"New Pictures as of 7/11/99"
Saturday 7/03/99 Green Water,
Wa. Forest Road # 73
Headed up to Green Water today
to get away from all the noise of the fireworks. I usually tool around
on Forest Road # 70, but this time I went up the road further to Forest
Road # 73. Just explored the area as I have not been up that road in a
while. Found lots of nice camping sites right on Huckleberry creek. Lots
of mud holes to play in. Have to wash the Runner Sunday, unless our Washington
weather does it for me. This is an excellent place to explore as the logging
roads are kept up quite well. But there are lots of side roads that lead
off the beaten path that are very narrow and full of obstacles. Lots of
steep trails to drive on. You have an excellent view of the White River
tree farm from way up above at about 3500 feet or so elevation. You can
go for miles and miles and not explore every where. There are trails here
for people not wanting to kiss their rocker panels good bye, to trails
that will put your local body shops stock up a notch. Hope to get some
pics back soon. Now if I can get my friend Andy and his girl friend with
her Jeep to come along, I can use their sweet Olympus Z400 digital camera.
Thats a must have on my wish list. There are a lot of bigger camping sites
along the rivers and creeks that run through here that are big enough for
a big travel trailer or motor home to back into. Well, thats all for this
report.
PS, I have thrown in a few pictures
from a previous trip up to Forest Road #70. They were taken sometime in
May.

This
is a side trail off of FR # 73. It leads down to a nice mud hole and lots
of other single lane width trails that go on for miles. Lots of turn outs
on the river for camping or picnicking.
Another
view of the same picture above.
The
White River in the background off of FR # 73.

A
view of the White River Tree Farm from up about 4000 feet or so elevation.
This tree farm is fenced in to keep out even the smallest rodents.
This
is one of those camping spots I mentioned that you can turn off into. Notice
that someone has put a fire pit right by the bank of Huckle Berry creek.
Just enough room for the Runner plus a tent setup. This will probably be
one of my over nighter stops. When I took the picture, the creek was running
very fast. Later on, it will be perfect for setting up a chair out in the
middle of it or swimming. There are lots of deep swimming holes along the
creek here. Most spots though you can walk across it with no problem.
This
is up on FR # 70 from sometime in May.
This
was on a pizza break with my boys up FR # 70 near a trail head thats popular
for snow shoeing during the winter months, and for hiking into a lake about
1 mile or so to camp at during the summer.
My
sons taking a pizza break by the above mentioned trail head. Thats Samuel
on the left, & Caleb on the right.
Up
on FR # 70. This was before I had my Downey rear springs put on and the
torsion bars cranked up. Notice the saggy butt. The 4Runner, not mine.
Now
finally I can cross any stream or river I come upon. I just drive in no
matter how deep, (kind of like this story here) and fire up the Evinrude
and just putt across any section of water. I'll have to mount some fishing
rod holders on the side of the doors.
I have since taken off the prop
in the rear, as I found out it has a meaning. Ask me, and I will tell you.
