Piaa Comparison

UPDATE:
I should have updated this page a long time ago. In my opinion, I think Piaa bulbs are trash.
They look brighter as you can see in my photos below, and from others on the 'Net.

But the truth is when you are driving on a dark rainy night, the light output on the road all but disappears.
When I had my '90 truck, I ran the Hella Euro housings as I do now on my 4Runner.
They are the same as the Hella Vision Plus housings, but are not DOT approved since they don't have the nubs on the lens for the aiming machines.
I ran a slightly higher wattage stock H4 on the truck. It was a 55/100 instead of the normal 55/60, and those bulbs are way better than the Piaa's I run now.

The only reason I have not got around to changing them yet it they have not blown out in over two years.
Others have had the bulbs blow out shortly after installing them.

If you want a good education on bulbs, and lighting in particular, please see Daniel Stern's website.
Yes, he doesn't like the Piaa bulbs either.

You make the call, install the Piaa's, or find something that works better for you.
Soon I will be going back to a plain jane yellow output 55/100.

The Piaa's really outshine the stock 55/60 Hella H4 bulbs that came with my
Hella Vision Plus headlamps.
You can see by the pics here how much brighter the Piaa bulbs are compared to the Hella's.
