Welcome to our first Green
Water, Wa. 4Runner Jamboree. This event was held on Saturday the 17th of
June, 2000.
We hope to have more get
togethers in the Pacific Northwest in the future. Maybe Green Water again,
or a different spot? There are so many places to go 4Wheelin' in our state.
We hope you enjoy these pictures
we took, and we will be back again!
Contributing digipics supplied
by Ken Ma, Todd
Fagering, and my youngest son, Samuel.
I want to thank Phil
Roemer for all the help in creating the popup windows that contain
the pictures. A lot of his time & effort went into the coding for them.

This was our meeting place, the Safeway parking lot in Enumclaw, WA.
Once we got up to forest road 73, we parked here first to discuss where we were going to explore.
This is on a side trail off of the main road. Nice camping spot.
On our way out of the trail
above, Todd braved flying mud chunks coming at him to shoot these pics.
Mack in the '89 4Runner below
wins the long distance award. He came all the way down from Vancouver Island,
BC.
This muds for you Todd!
Our next area to explore was
a road that I, Todd, and Vince had gone on before, but yours truly took
a wrong turn and we headed straight up to some very beautiful scenery.
Elevation was about 4500
feet here or so.
This patch of snow here was
very deceiving. Me being in the front decided to go through the 50 foot
or so of snow so we could continue on our way. I put it in 4 low and started
to drive through it. The white glop was over a foot deep and I sunk upto
my differentials and got stuck. I tried to go forward a little and I stated
to slide to the right which has a very deep ravine. My pucker factor kicked
in and some said my voice on the CB went up an octave or two.
I started to back out and
I still felt myself sliding towards the right. The road is very banked
here as you can see, and its not a pleasant feeling to have your rig getting
closer to the bank. Eventually I was able to get my back wheels on the
dirt. From my viewpoint in the cab, it felt very close, but I was told
I had a about a cars width almost between me and going over.
Lo and behold Dave decided to try the same thing I did in his '71 Land Cruiser with a 327 Chevy for a power plant. He got stuck at about the same place I did. You just sink down and your tires fill up with the slush and when you gas it, its like spinning a pair of slicks.
Dave's son hooked up a tow strap to the front of my Runner and I had the honor of pulling Dave out. When I was stuck, he offered to pull me out if I did not make it, and he would discuss his tow fees afterwards. I still have not decided what to charge him for towing his 'Yota out. Looks can be very deceiving here, as all he could do was spin, the stuff was like super glue.
After we got turned around from the snow, we headed back down and went into a nice campsite that was big enough to fit all of our rigs into. There's also a nice little bank to walk down that will take you to Huckle Berry Creek. Later in the summer, its a lot of fun to body surf on, but right now its pretty swift from the snow melt.
Too much food and fun makes for Todd's boy to sack out. My son also napped quite a bit after chowing down.
All in all, it was a lot of fun. The time flew, wish we could have explored some more, but there's always another day for that. It was also nice to associate faces with the names you see on the 4Runner forum. I think a few of us will be coming back upto this campsite sometime this summer for a little R&R.
