The snow was like wet cement
in some places and my rig had a hard time even in 4WD. I think it was the
weight of my rig on full tire pressure as I did not air down for this trip.
Had I aired down, I am sure
my tires would have griped the snow much better.
The two 1st gens seemed to track
and grip in the snow better than me, probably due to the lighter weight
of the rigs.
The weather was decent, with
some sun breaks, and light rain at times.
The pics that were shot up by
the river Todd found the entrance to that road, and it seems to be a very
good place to have a future weekend long event, or just to get away and
camp for a day.
Also I am very glad the new winch
worked out great. I did not get to test out a snatch block with it, but
pulling single line method worked real good, and the winch stayed cool
the whole time and never faltered.
For areas with snow which we
were in, a winch is a necessity if you get stuck.
A locker can get you into far
places, but when you are stuck, you are stuck.
Only way you are getting out
is to dig, or get yanked out with a strap, or a winch.
A winch is by far the easiest
method.
A winch then seems to make a
whole lot of sense.
